Although we didn't make the Top Ten Selection this year, I'm very proud of our entry Wedlocked. It stars me and Christina Jun in a reunion of our characters from the 2011 Shootout-winner Sawaru. Click the above links to check them both out!
I have a great deal of admiration for Scott Eriksson, Eric Pan and Asians On Film. Last night was the January Monthly Screening Series at Hollyshorts showcasing a cinematic and well-curated collection of short films from Asian American filmmakers. Next month, Asians On Film will be showcasing the Top Ten Selection of this year's Asian American Film Lab Shootout shorts. It's a great way to see the efforts of up-and-coming actors, filmmakers and writers who have only been given 72 hours to create a short narrative. And each year, the response from entrants has increased exponentially, promising amazing competition and quality storytelling. Although we didn't make the Top Ten Selection this year, I'm very proud of our entry Wedlocked. It stars me and Christina Jun in a reunion of our characters from the 2011 Shootout-winner Sawaru. ...my first year at Sundance was productive. Here are some highlights that include the Hollywood Meets Silicon Valley panels. Yesterday was the table read at CrossCut Films for Richard J Dubin's new screenplay. Thanks to casting director Pamela Staton for asking me to be a part of it's development! It's always exciting to see a project in its early stages and consequently be a witness to its progression. And I gotta say, this one really is smart and seductive. Hopefully I'll be able to post more about it later, but for now it's under wraps.
Also, last night was the Los Angeles premiere of A New York Heartbeat. Congratulations to the director Tjardus Greidanus (who partially workshopped the screenplay at the Judith Weston Studio) and to Escher Holloway for a great performance alongside Rachel Brosnahan, Eric Roberts, Eliza Roberts and Jack Donner. Ha ha, nice. Thanks to Hymnson Chan for sending me this link. It's awesome to see that I'm number seven on this list of almost two hundred mixed Asian male celebrities. I'm honored to be mentioned alongside these dudes, a handful of whom I've had the pleasure to meet. I don't know if there's any particular order to the list since Dean Cain and Keanu Reeves rank in the sixties, but it's the thought that counts. Coincidentally, Dean Cain was one of the guests on Access Hollywood the first time I did their fashion show back in June. Regardless, if we go by the logic presented by this list, then I have just usurped the Cain.
Great way to start 2014. Happy New Year! |
